CEO, ADTECH

Dirk Freytag oversees the strategic direction of ADTECH, the ad serving engine and management technology behind AOL Advertising. Since taking on the role in 2005, Freytag has increased the company’s annual revenue by 50 percent each year, in addition to bringing on more than 200 global clients in the United States, Australia, South Africa, Asia, Thailand and elsewhere. 

Prior to becoming CEO, Freytag spent three years as the company’s COO, handling UK and Northern European sales, client services, financial operations, marketing and public relations. Earlier, he served as ADTECH’s Vice President of Corporate Communications, responsible for internal and external global communications strategies.

Before joining ADTECH, Freytag held a senior-level corporate communications positions with Bull AG, a French IT company that sells mainframes and outsources SAP engagements.  Earlier in his career, Freytag worked for Deutsche Bahn AG, a German railway company, and Berentzen AG, a German liquor manufacturer. He has also held communications roles with various European newspapers.

In his spare time, Dirk is a rowing enthusiast, and in 1993 served as a rowing coach at the University Games in Buffalo, NY, where he led his team to win a bronze medal. Dirk and his wife, Kirsten, and their two children, Carlotta and Finn, moved to the United States from Germany in March 2008.  He holds an MBA from Universität Osnabrück.
